DTF transfers

What is DTF?

Direct-to-Film: we print your artwork onto a special film with an adhesive powder, then you heat-press it onto your apparel. The design bonds permanently into the fabric.

How is DTF different from DTG, screen print or vinyl?

vs DTG: works on polyester and blends (DTG needs cotton); no pre-treatment
vs screen print: no minimums or setup fees; full colour gradients work; no colour limit
vs vinyl (HTV): no weeding; gradients and photographic prints work; softer feel

What fabrics does DTF work on?

Cotton, polyester, polycotton blends, canvas, denim, fleece and spandex — light or dark. Heat-sensitive fabrics such as nylon and neoprene need a lower setting. It does not work on waterproof or silicone-coated fabrics.

Do you have a minimum order?

No. Order one transfer or a hundred — same price per unit, no setup fee. Quantity discounts start automatically at 15 pieces.

What is the turnaround on transfers?

Transfers are dispatched 24–48 hours after we approve your artwork. Print-ready files are usually approved the same business day we receive them. Standard Australia Post delivery is then 2–5 business days.

How do I press the transfers?

Pre-press the garment for 5 seconds first to drive off moisture and flatten wrinkles, then:

Cotton & cotton blends — 150–160°C, 10–15 seconds, firm pressure (60–80 psi)
Polyester, sports mesh & hi vis — 130–140°C, 8–12 seconds, medium pressure (40–60 psi)
Nylon, neoprene & coated fabrics — 110–120°C, 6–8 seconds, light pressure. Test a scrap first.

Peel hot or cold — both work with our film. Then cover with baking paper or a Teflon sheet and press again for 8–12 seconds. That second press is what locks in the wash durability, so don’t skip it. Can I order custom sizes outside the listed options?

The size calculator takes any size from 3 cm up to 28 × 100 cm, so nearly everything is already covered. Anything larger, email hello@dtfmotion.com.au with your design and dimensions and we’ll quote within one business day.

Custom apparel

How does ordering printed apparel work?

Pick your garment, colour and size on the product page.
Choose where the included print goes, add extra print positions if you want them, and upload artwork for each. No file ready? Order anyway and email it to us with your order number.
We email you a free mockup for approval.
Once you approve it, we print, press and dispatch.

How long does apparel take?

Mockup within 1 business day, then 3–6 business days to print, press and dispatch after you approve it, then 2–5 business days delivery. Garments are ordered in and printed to order — they are not next-day.

Got a hard deadline? Email us the date before you order and we’ll tell you honestly whether we can hit it.

Is there a minimum order on apparel?

No. One shirt is fine, and it’s the same per-unit price. Team discounts start automatically at 15 garments (5%), then 30 (10%), 60 (15%) and 100 (20%) — mix garments, colours and sizes, they all count toward the same total.

Which brands do you print on?

JB’s Wear, Biz Collection, Blue Whale and more — mens, womens and kids cuts, from 2XS to 7XL depending on the style, in the maker’s full official colour range. We add new brands and styles regularly, so browse the full range for what’s available today.

Why are some sizes greyed out?

Because the garment maker doesn’t produce every size in every colour. Rather than let you order something that doesn’t exist, we grey out the combinations the manufacturer doesn’t make. Each product page lists exactly which colours the small sizes come in.

Can I have my logo in more than one place?

Yes. One print is included in the price — left chest or right chest, your choice on the product page. Prefer it big? Move that included print to a full front or full back for $5.99.

Extra positions on top of the included one are right chest, sleeves and upper back at $6.99 each, lower back $8.99, and full front or full back $9.99. Each position takes its own artwork file.

Hi vis garments are the exception: we only press onto the fluoro panel, so full front and lower back aren’t offered on those styles.

Do you do embroidery?

Not at this stage — everything is DTF printed. DTF gives you full colour and photographic detail with no setup fee, which embroidery can’t.

How do I wash printed garments?

Wait 24 hours before the first wash. Then inside out, cold water, gentle cycle. No bleach, no fabric softener, no dry cleaning. Hang dry or tumble low. Iron inside out only, never directly on the print. Done that way, our prints are tested to 50+ washes with no cracking or fading.

Can I return a printed garment if the size is wrong?

No — printed garments are made to order, so we can’t accept change-of-mind returns or size swaps. Every product page has the real garment measurements, and we’re happy to help you plan a size run before you order. Faulty prints or garments are always replaced or refunded.

Artwork

What artwork do you need?

Best files — a PNG with a transparent background, or a vector file: AI, EPS, PDF or SVG
JPGs, screenshots and low-resolution files are still accepted, but an artwork fee may apply. We always quote before we start and you can approve or decline.
Text-only setups are done free of charge
300 DPI at final print size
RGB or CMYK — both fine
Minimum line thickness 0.5 mm for clean printing
Up to 20 MB per file through the uploader — email or WeTransfer anything larger

What if my artwork isn’t good enough?

We’ll tell you before we print, and we’ll usually suggest a fix. If a file is too low-resolution to print well, we won’t quietly print it anyway.

Is there a setup fee?

No setup fee and no minimum order, ever. Print-ready artwork — a transparent PNG or a vector file — carries no artwork fee either. The only time a fee comes up is when a file has to be rebuilt or redrawn, and we quote it before we start.

Shipping, orders & problems

What does shipping cost?

Transfers ship for $12 flat, and free once your order reaches $120. Custom apparel ships for $20 flat, and free once your order reaches $180.

Both thresholds look at your whole order total, so transfers and apparel in the same cart count together — a mixed order over $180 ships completely free. Only an order under both thresholds that contains both lines pays the two rates together. We ship within Australia only and every order is tracked. Full detail on the Shipping & Returns page.

What if my order arrives damaged or has a print defect?

We replace free of charge for our errors (wrong file, wrong size, print quality issues) or shipping damage. Email us photos within 7 days of delivery. See our Shipping & Returns page for the full policy. Nothing there limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
